Arsenic Stress Tolerance in Lentil Varieties

A pot experiment was conducted inside a rain- shelter in the Department of Agronomy, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka 2016 to evaluate arsenic (As) stress tolerance seven lentil varieties, viz., BARIMasur-1, BARIMasur-2, BARIMasur-3, BARIMasur-4, BARIMasur-5, BARIMasur-6 and BARIMasur-7 against three levels no (control), 25 mg As / kg soil 50 soil. Arsenic treatment imposed during filling with 10 air- dried pot-1. The pots were fertilized 0.225 g urea, 0.425 TSP 0.175 MoP pot-1 before seed sowing. Six healthy seeds varieties sown each plants thinned four after weeks later. It observed that increasing significantly decreased pods plant-1, 1000 weight, yield, stover harvest index relative values these parameters, whereas increased content all studied. Although BARIMasur-7, BARIMasur-5 gave higher their yield components, lower, but compared BARIMasur-3 BARIMasur-4. Therefore, BARIMasur-4 superior safe for consumption considering suitable breeding under conditions. Correlation studies indicated by most negatively influencing -seeds weight followed pod-1.
